Although orginating in America in 1937, Canadians have made KD an iconic Canadian food. Known in America as Mac & Cheese, most Canadians call it KD, short for Kraft Dinner. KD may seem as though it is a poor man's meal, but it sure is popular. Canadians eat more than 1.7 million packages per week (out of the 7 million sold globally).
Even a former Prime Minister of Canada, Paul Martin said it was his favorite food.
The beaver is a famous Canadian animal. So, who has actually eaten a Beaver Tail? Many Canadians have tried one, and it isn't really the tail of a beaver. A beaver tail is fried bread-dough in the shape of a beaver's tail. Then it is covered with sugar, cinnamon  or Nutella. You can often find vendors selling beaver tails at outdoor events in the summer. The idea came from the founder, Grant Hooker who ate a similar sweet made by his German-Canadian grandmother. In 1978 he began to sell Beaver Tails at fairs and markets.
French fries with gravy can be eaten in many countries. But add cheese curds and you have poutine, a Canadian original.  It started in Quebec in the late 1950s in the Centre-du-Québec area, though its actual origins are uncertain. Get your forks ready because eating poutine with your fingers is pretty messy. Poutine is also a Quebec slang for a mess.
